Ban
Belgium bans the production and use of asbestos. Buildings from after that date should no longer contain it.

From 23 November an asbestos certificate is required when selling any building built before 2001.

Every owner
Even without a sale, every owner of a building built before 2001 must hold an asbestos certificate.

Flanders aims to have all high-risk asbestos applications removed by then.

When selling or transferring a building built before 2001, from 20 m² onwards. By 2032 every owner of such a building must have one.
Ten years. Five years if high-risk materials are present, and indefinitely if no asbestos is found.
That depends on the type of building, the floor area and the number of samples. You get one fixed amount within 24 hours, with no surprises afterwards.
A non-destructive inventory opens nothing up. A small sample is sometimes needed; we agree on that beforehand and leave the spot tidy.
Usually nothing needs to happen. Bonded material in good condition may stay where it is. Only damaged or friable material gets urgent advice.
Usually within the week. If your sale agreement is signed or your works start soon, mention it in your request.
